Schools

I would like to take a minute to explain what I can offer your school. This is just a general over view of typical things I can do.  The great thing about being an Usborne Consultant is the flexibility I have to help meet the needs of your school.  When I come to meet with you we can discuss what needs you have, and how Usborne books can help. We will come up with and individual plan to fit your needs, if something on here doesn’t work, we won’t do it, or we will alter it to meet your needs.  Please take a minute to look through what I have to offer and browse through the catalogs. I will be contacting you next week to talk to you and set up a time to get together.

Usborne Books are designed graphically to draw children in, to make them want to learn the material, and to help them retain that knowledge.  The magic of Usborne Books is that they make both reading and learning fun.  The books are so well organized that children absorb and recall much of the vast amount of information presented.  Our books cover a wide range of subjects – hobbies, history, science, nature, foreign language, and much more.  Usborne Books are designed for ages birth through high school, with selected titles designed specifically for adults.

1)   Direct sales – either monthly or periodic – with excellent customer service

2)   Presentation for teachers/staff Or Parents on Reading aloud:  I would be happy to attend a staff meeting to speak briefly (15 minutes) about research in the Read Aloud Handbook, or be a speaker at a literacy night for parents.

3)   Bookfairs
  • If your school’s bookfair retail equals $200-499, the school gets 25% of the retail value of the books for free!  Shipping is free.
  • If your school’s bookfair retail equals $500+, the school gets 50% of the retail value of the books for free!  Shipping is free.
We offer a very different product than Scholastic Books offers.  Scholastic focuses on fiction and very inexpensive products (e.g., stapled, paper covers), while Usborne offers an award-winning series of over 1200 titles, with a heavy emphasis on non-fiction titles, classics, and a variety of fiction from international authors.  Our books are stitched and glued using high-quality paper, four-color printing, and durable bindings.
  • Booths or Mini Fairs-Essentially the same as a book fair only on a smaller scale at a school picnic or fair. Benefits the same as a book fair.
  • E-Fairs- Opportunity for families and people in the community to purchase anytime directly from my website, earning free books for the school just like a book fair does. Can be done in conjunction with a book fair, or can be available all year around.

4)   Reach for the Stars!! Pledge-Driven Read-a-Thon: 2 options
Goal of Reach for the Stars!!: Have children read or be read to at least 300 minutes over a two-week timeframe.  This is an average of 30 minutes per school day, which is what experts recommend.

c)      30% of cash money pledged buys books for teachers and/or the organization
  • Bookraiser option:
