While I was in college, I was privledge to take a Children's Literature class from Marilou Sorenson, a leading expert in Children's Literature. The class was amazing and I learned a ton. One lesson that I reaped from her was the idea that every gift she gives is a children's book. Every wedding present, every Christmas Present, every birthday present and every baby shower present. . . EVERY gift she gives is a children's book. What better way to encourage reading and make the children in our lives excited about reading than to make the gifts we give them books. Instill in them that Reading truly is a gift!
